Khayal The Lighter And More Colourful Of Classical Singing Came To The Punjab Towards The End Of The Last Century. Ustad Ummeed Ali Khan Belongs To The Third Generation Of Khayal Singers. Among His Family Are Big Names Like His Great Grand Father *Khan Sahib Boorey Khan* , His Grand Father *Khan Sahib Meeran Bukhsh* , His Great Uncle *Khan Sahib Banney Khan*, His Father *Khan Sahib Piarey Khan* And His ILLustrious Uncles *Ustad Jamal Khan* , *Ustad Saindhey Khan* And  *Ustad Misri Khan*. It Is Generally Accepted That The Khayal Music Was Brought To The Punjab By Khan Sahib Banney Khan From Gwaliar.

Nearly Four Decades Ago Ummeed Ali Khan Recorded His First Khayal In Raag Madhvanti. It Is Now A Collector's Item And Still A Treat For The Ears. The Promise In This Performance Has Been More Than Fulfilled By Maestro In His Subsequent Career. With Each Passing Year He Soared Higher And Till His Last Performance. A Couple Of Year Ago , He Maintained The Highest Standards Of Khayal Singing, Fully Justifying His Role As The Doyne Of Classical Singers In Pakistan.

The Present Collection Is Most Representative Of The Artist , Covering All Aspects Of His Majestic Style , For Which He Shall Always Be Cherished.

Ustad Ummeed Ali Khan Is Now Dormant Because Of Complete Loss Of Hearing. Yet From His Memory He Helped Us Choose These Numbers For Your Listening Pleasure. He Himself Cannot Hear Anymore , Not Even His Own Voice.
